Eve Rimmer Games 2016

Table Tennis partnered up with Boccia on the middle day of the 2016 Eve Rimmer Games in Whakatane.

Three tables were set up for table tennis, which was a demonstration event.

A Stag robot machine was used at one table, giving participants around 20 minutes private tuition with TTNZ's John Tuki and John Lea.

Competition events were held at the end of the 4 hour programme, with the Robot Skills competition won by Paula Tipene, who also won the wheelchair round-robin singles shootout.  The standing singles shootout was won by Claire van Oirschot, in a close tussle with Bryan Robinson.

The participants, all from Whakatane, were:  Wheelchair - Steven Wilson, Kay Wall, Hone Herewini, Maykal Mayne and Paula Tipene.  Standing: Claire van Oirschot, Rainus Baker, Bruce Te Wao and Bryan Robinson.

The event was expertly run by Zane Jensen, from Halberg Disability Foundation, who have kindly provided funding assistance to increase participation in Para Table Tennis Events.

Thank you to TTNZ National Para Coach John Tuki for travelling down from Auckland to this event, and stimulating enthusiastic enjoyment from the participants.
