Individuals Seedings

The Teams Results were completed on Friday evening when, despite two being round-robins, the final match decided all three events.

In the open event the strength of Jae Sung Oh was in evidence as Waitemata triumphed over a young Auckland team.  Dean Shu had an exciting 5-set victory over Victor Pollett to keep Auckland in the contest, while Alfred de la Pena had a 4 set victory over Roger Wang in support of Jae Sung.  Waikato 1 pipped Manawatu for 3rd place.  Waitemata 2 overcame Waikato 2 for 5th place. The event included a lot of younger players, who displayed much athleticism and raw energy.

The final round robin veterans match, fittingly between the two undefeated teams, went down to the wire.  Bay of Plenty recovered a 1-2 deficit in the key doubles between the two John's (Tuki and Lea) and Rodney Bygrave and Tony McAllister of Manawatu 1.  Northern Regional Manager, John Tuki then completed the narrow victory with a final match win over Tony at 3-3, remaining unbeaten in singles. This event was played in a great spirit, with several draft players ensuring a lot of tight contests.

The junior boys event went to the hometown Manawatu quartet, with Scott Lochhead creating the momentum with a tight fifth set win over Bay of Plenty's Xavier Lea in a battle of the two undefeated players from the earlier rounds.  There were lots of close matches within the round robin, where Cameron Huston, Jack Webb and the Tilsley brothers also provided a great spectacle for onlookers.

Open Grade: Waitemata 1 (Jae Seung Oh, Alfred DelaPena, Victor Pollett) beat Auckland 4-1 (Dean Shu, Roger Wang, Neil Chen)

Waikato 1 beat Manawatu for third place.

Veterans Combined (Over 40's): Bay Of Plenty (John Lea, John Tuki, Victor Kamizona) beat Manawatu 4-3 (Rodney Bygrave, Tony McAllister, Valerie Scarr, Andrew Palmer)

Under 18 Boys: Manawatu 1 (Scott Lochhead, Jack Webb, Kaushal Patel, Thomas Sun) beat Bay of Plenty 4-3 (Xavier Lea, Lucas Tilsley, Drew Tilsley).
