We missed a newsletter last week so here's a double edition! News and results Lots of great events over the last few weeks: Other news: - Club membership - we're looking for new members! Membership opens on 12 March 2018. Our membership flyer for the new season is here. It details lots of fantastic incentives to encourage you to join this year. Get in touch if you have any questions.
- We had our AGM last week and elected a new committee. We'll be meeting in the next week or so to plan the upcoming season. If you have any great ideas for events or are keen to volunteer in any capacity with the club, get in touch!
Upcoming events - Our club calendar is here.
- The NZ Running Calendar includes triathlon, swim, bike, run, obstacle course and mountain bike events and even film festivals and expos! And if you see an event that takes your fancy and think it would be a good one for the club to attend 'gang-handed', post ideas to our Facebook page.
Running events - Round the Vines is on 18 March 2018 in Martinborough.
- The Xterra Wellington series starts on 25 March with the West Wind event.
- Great Forest Events are on 14 April at Waitarere Beach. This is an event that the club is always well represented at. We'll be there again this year, probably with the club tent set up for rest and recuperation. Remember, for competitive club members, the club will provide up to $25 discount on your entry for this race (provided you wear your club singlet).
- For those of you in town on a Tuesday afternoons, Wellington Scottish's Waterfront 5k Series is a great tune up for our Summer 5km events.
Triathlon, duathlon and cycling events - Ironman NZ is this weekend. Good luck to anyone taking part.
- There are two more events in the Splash and Dash series in March (7th and 21st March).
- Details of the Capital City Triathlon events are on their website. Next event is on 17 March 2018.
- Porirua Grand Traverse is on 8 April 2018.
Training and club sessions - There is a Facebook Group for junior training announcements and info.
- Anyone wanting to publicise a training session or looking for training partners, please get in touch and we can put the word out.
- You can also use our Club Strava Group to create and publicise events (get on the group if you're not already!)
Club membership - We are always keen to attract new members. If you want to know what you get from membership of an Athletics NZ affliated club, check out the member benefits here. In addition, you will receive heavily discounted entry (or even free entry) at the majority of our club events, discounted squad fees, be able to run at inter-club events and be eligible for representative teams. We are affliated to Triathlon NZ and have a number of keen triathletes (and accredited coaches) in the club. We also have a number of social functions throughout the year. If you want to train and compete with the club, you can join us here. Any questions, ask one of our friendly committee members.
Other stuff - Call for newsletter items - if you want some company to train with, you've got a flash new bike and want to sell your old steel workhorse or you've just smashed your half marathon PB (or anything else that might be newsworthy) let us know for inclusion in the next newsletter.
