Kia ora everyone, I hope you all managed to have some time out over the King's Birthday weekend. Learning from each other is a powerful means to better prepare young people for working life. The OECD, in response to the career readiness project, has gathered digital technology examples from around the world and have collated these in a repository. More information below. CATE NZ is also working with members throughout New Zealand to highlight “good practice” and share ideas in ways to effectively deliver career education and guidance. We welcome all members to contribute to this and will upload different programmes and events onto the Case Studies section of the CATE website. To continue the conversation about “good” practice we have set up a LinkedIn page to showcase what is happening in our schools. Check out the Lunchtime Byte with Air New Zealand and Gap Programme webinar opportunities below as well as information on the Kaiārahi Workshop coming to your region. Ngā mihi nui, Leigh Gray |

The OECD Observatory on Digital technologies is an open access repository on the use of digital technologies in career education and guidance by primary and secondary schools. This has been designed to enable the global community of policy makers, schools and guidance practitioners to gain easy access to up to date practice examples, and insights on effective commissioning, development and use. This is ongoing and developers and users of digital tools in career guidance in schools are invited to submit case studies. Click here to read about effective tools that are used globally and have been endorsed by the OECD. |
We have set up a LinkedIn account to better connect with members. This platform allows us to discuss different topics and promotes sharing of ideas and thoughts. View the page and follow us to build our community—LinkedIn CATE NZ. We would love to see posts about the work you are doing and events you are running. |

A note from TEC re: Daniel Kilmister’s presentation on the Zeil CV Builder Daniel Kilmister and Anna Mowbray recently presented their mobile app Zeil to show us how the mobile CV builder works. During the presentation it was suggested that TEC was endorsing this product. Follow up with TEC shows that they have not endorsed it, due to concerns with data privacy and lack of usage (since it hadn’t been launched when it was previewed). Nina Ive has confirmed that they will be monitoring progress of Zeil as their users increase, to understand user experience and satisfaction, as well as some of the technical and privacy questions that weren’t able to be answered during initial conversations. |
