Degrees Apprenticeships Eve Price This talk introduces a discussion on Degree Level Apprenticeships (DLAs) in New Zealand's vocational education system. DLAs offer higher-level qualifications, but face unique challenges in New Zealand due to perceptions, funding, and regulatory factors. We will cover the scarcity of DLAs in the country, emphasising the need for collaborative efforts to change perceptions, expand access, and serve priority groups like Māori and Pasifika learners.

In this presentation, Anthony will share insights from a large international research project which reviewed longitudinal datasets from 10 countries to investigate the relationships between teenage career development and better employment outcomes ten years later. Identifying a many predictors of better outcomes linked to how students explore, experience and think about potential futures in employment, the presentation will summarise the findings and discuss how they can be drawn upon in design of effective and equitable career guidance systems. The presentation provides important background to the keynote presentation of Tricia Berry at the CATE conference on Thursday 23rd of November.
Girls who Grow Girls who Grow are on a mission to engage the next generation of female leaders, change makers and environmental guardians into climate positive agriculture and farming.
Through imagination centred workshops, imagination challenges, on farm lunch and learn experiences and deeper immersion experiences on farm Girls who Grow offer secondary students 15-17 years of age to join the movement of Girls who Grow and connect back to the land to create a meaningful and values aligned career path.
After being part of a CreativeHQ GovTech accelerator and presenting at The Beehive in December, Aimee Blake and Catherine van der Meulen have been activating the pilot in 3 Otago schools with an incredible response. They are committed to taking Girls who Grow across the country in 2024 and beyond and would love your expression of interest to learn more. Here is a slideshow which explains more about the pilots.
