Bowls club honours stalwarts

Rex Holmes was made Kapiti Coast Bowls’ Player of the Year at their annual awards ceremony. He has now won 24 centre titles as well as three national titles while a member of the Paraparaumu Beach club plus a number of titles while playing in the Wellington Centre.

A special presentation was made on the awards night to Audrey Stevenson (Paraparaumu Beach) in recognition of her winning her 50th centre title over the season.


The board of Bowls Kapiti Coast made a presentation to their patroness and life member Carrell Knight (Levin Women’s) for her Outstanding Contribution to the Sport of Bowls. Carrell has been a distinguished player and administrator in the Kapiti Coast Centre since 1992.


She was the tournament convener for 17 years, and successively vice president, president, board member and patroness. For five years she was a member of Bowls NZ Council, a regional councillor and member of the Bowls NZ Advisory Board.
