Greetings and welcome to the Te Toka Tū o Waitaha Māori Rugby League website.
Te Toka Tū o Waitaha, derived from the whakataukī “Ki Uta Ki Tai – From the Mountains to the Sea” represents kaitiakitanga from the maunga and great inland lakes, down the rivers to hāpua, and to the sea.
Te Toka Tū stand firmly and confidently between both land and sea against all conditions and challenges throughout Waitaha. Te Toka Tū o Waitaha will form and manage regional representative Māori Rugby League Teams for the Waitaha rohe. Te Toka Tū o Waitaha will create an opportunity for those who have a passion for rugby league to come together as Māori o ngā maata waka who reside in the Waitaha rohe.

Rugby league holds a significant place for whānau here in Waitaha. Te Toka Tū o Waitaha has been established to provide whānau with pathways that allow our members to showcase their talent on the league field while engaging, growing and expressing their passion for mātauranga Māori.
