The Friday night Bears Basketball junior programme is in its 22 nd year of providing innovative and fun activities for the children of Papakura and surrounding areas.
Volunteer coaching staff members share their experience and knowledge of various sports, recreation and leisure activities.
These activities are held in the iconic
Papakura Leisure Centre at 294 Great South Road.
One of the homes of the Bears Basketball junior programmes the leisure centre provides an exciting and fun filled community venue.
Skills, drills and age-appropriate physical activity concepts are presented to the children with a focus on the sport of Basketball.
Portable size basketball hoops are provided so that participants can experience positive outcomes within a timely manner. The programme seeks to grow self-esteem and confidence within an organized, disciplined and safe environment.
Parents are welcome to assist, and asked occasionally to help coaching staff if participants numbers exceed manageable ratios.
Participants must meet the requirements of being in school Years 1, 2, 3 or 4 to attend this programme.
