PTA

Parent Teacher Association

The Marian PTA comprises a group of parents with diverse talents and abilities, who work collaboratively with the staff and Board of Trustees to provide for the girls of Marian College and support events to help build school community spirit.

As a parent, the PTA provides a great opportunity to meet and make new friendships and connections, and we have a lot of fun supporting school events including the New Parent Information Evening, the School Enrolment Open Day, Parent-Teacher Interviews, Second Hand Uniform Sale, as well as the recent Reunite Meet & Greet for past pupils and Open Christchurch event.  We also provide support to our students and whanau with pastoral care support, fund the maintenance of the school minivans, support the Seniors Leavers Ball and PTA Grace Awards, as well as provide a voice on the Sports Advisory Panel.

Our primary focus with the move to the new school site at Lydia Street is to plan, fundraise and manage the Growing Greener Together campaign, which involves providing the soft landscaping elements to the school environment.  In 2023 we raised over $5,000 and implemented Phase 1 of the campaign, with planting, irrigation and maintenance of the landscaping beds directly outside the school entrance and in the courtyard along with indoor plants.  In 2024, we are embarking on Phase 2 of the campaign to plant the boundary and area beyond the staff car park.

If you would like to join our fun, dynamic, enthusiastic team, we welcome new members at any time.  We meet twice a term so keep an eye on the newsletter and Facebook pages for our next meeting date.  If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us through the school office or email [email protected]

Growing Greener Together Fundraiser 2023

In 2023, the Marian College PTA decided to take on the landscaping of the new school as its flagship project. They worked with the school to determine what plants were appropriate for the grounds and then raised about $5000 through the Growing Greener Together campaign. They have created a thriving greenspace at the front of the school for all to enjoy.
