EVENTS MANAGER - Badminton New Zealand (Full time)

Badminton New Zealand is the national body responsible for the promotion and development of badminton in New Zealand. Established in 1927 and a founding member of the International Badminton Federation (now BWF), Badminton New Zealand consists of 24 member associations throughout New Zealand and aims to inspire Kiwis to love badminton for life.

This role will suit a dynamic and innovative team player with a passion for badminton who is well organised and leads by example. Leading a small team consisting of paid staff and volunteers, our ideal candidate will demonstrate strong relationship skills, experience in managing complex and varied tasks and a willingness to ensure events and competition management are delivered to an exceptional standard.

Reporting to the Badminton New Zealand People & Pathways Lead, this is a full-time permanent role. This role will preferably be based at our Auckland or Napier office, however this is negotiable for the right candidate. National travel will be required throughout the year. The right to work in New Zealand, a full driver’s license, and a satisfactory police check is required for this position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To lead the development and delivery of Badminton New Zealand events and competitions to grow participation in badminton. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Developing and delivering an event strategy for Badminton New Zealand.
• Leading Badminton New Zealand National Events, Inter-Association Competition and supporting Badminton New Zealand Sanctioned Events.
• Developing relationships and partnerships with Member Associations, staff, volunteers and external stakeholders to enhance the delivery of events.
• Supporting the delivery of international events held in New Zealand.
• Leading the development of annual budgets, operations plans and the Badminton New Zealand calendar.
• Overseeing the national ranking system and collecting accurate events data.

GENERAL MANAGER - Hawke's Bay Netball (Full time)

Hawke’s Bay Netball has an exciting opportunity for a new General Manager to lead the organisation in the next stage of its development. Hawke’s Bay Netball is the Regional Sports Organisation responsible for the delivery of netball in Hawke’s Bay. As one of the largest netball centres in New Zealand, the General Manager is responsible for leading Hawke’s Bay Netball to ensure that it achieves the strategic goals set by the Governance Board.

The General Manager must be a team player, organised, have exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, be committed to a programme of continuous improvement, and ensure that Hawke’s Bay Netball connects and inspires the community through netball.

We are looking for someone with:

• A tertiary qualification in a field relating to management, sport, education or other relevant area
• At least 5 years’ experience in organisational leadership and management of staff
• Experience in Financial management to ensure the sustainability of Hawke’s Bay Netball (including funding applications and sponsorship)
• Experience in Planning activities in line with strategic goals and reporting on the outcomes
• Great communication skills allowing you to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders from volunteers to funders.
• An understanding of commercial development and a commitment to organisational growth
• Experience in managing facilities • Knowledge of sport delivery and growing participation
• Knowledge of the NZ sport system.


​​​​​​​This is a full-time role that reports directly to the Board. Some weekend and evening work is required, and as such, the role has flexible hours.

SPORT HAWKE'S BAY - CYCLE SKILLS INSTRUCTORS (2–6 hour sessions as and when required)

Sport Hawke’s Bay exists to enhance the health and wellbeing of Hawke’s Bay by influencing, enabling and supporting our communities to be more physically active.

We are looking for CASUAL Cycling Instructors to join our Active Communities team.

KEY GOAL/MISSION:

  • To deliver quality cycle skills instruction using the Bike Ready Programme.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To deliver cycle/scooter skills sessions and bike-ready programmes.
  • To have the flexibility to deliver the programmes at different venues within the Napier/Hastings Environments, including on school grounds and at parks/cycleways.
  • Undertake specific outcomes, evaluations or reports as requested.

SPORT HAWKE'S BAY - GROUP EXERCISE INSTRUCTOR (up to 5 hours per week)

Sport Hawke’s Bay exists to enhance the health and wellbeing of Hawke’s Bay by influencing, enabling and supporting our communities to be more physically active.


A casual instructing position is available within our Active Communities team.


Our Recreation Instructors provide high-quality, low-impact group exercise programmes.  One of our specialised areas includes programmes for adults and kaumātua over the age of 50 to improve strength, balance and flexibility, along with Tai Chi at a variety of venues in Napier and Hastings.  An instructor is required for up to 5 hours per week to extend the range and scope of programmes on offer.


If you consider yourself reliable, energetic and fun-loving with a passion for working with older adults, we have an exciting opportunity for you.


Group exercise instruction experience/qualifications are desirable but not essential as training can be supplied.


The key responsibilities for this position are:


  • To prepare and deliver group exercise programmes specifically tailored for older adults and other targeted community physical activity programmes, including people with disabilities.
  • Have flexibility to deliver programmes in Napier and Hastings.
  • Be available to relieve at venues when requested.
  • Attend training opportunities as determined by Sport Hawke’s Bay.
