TOURNAMENT RULES

1.      TEAM ELIGIBILITY

a)  Each Association/District is entitled to enter up to two teams
b)  A tournament entry fee of $200 (set at the Annual General Meeting each year), must be forwarded to the Host association by 15th February. Withdrawals after 28th February will not receive a refund unless there are extenuating circumstances.


2.      PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

a) Minimum age to participate is 35 years of age, as at the day prior to the commencement of the tournament.
b) Players under 40 years of age, must not have played representative softball for two years’.
c) Players under 40 years of age, must not be playing major A softball in any of following associations:  Auckland, Canterbury, Hutt Valley or Wellington.
d) Players under 45 years of age, must be an ex-representative player.
e) Players over 45 years of age, not required to be an ex-representative player.


3.    OFFICIAL ELIGIBILITY

a)  Must be an ex-representative player, coach, assistant coach, manager or scorer.  Player Eligibility rules apply.


4.        DATE     

During March


5.      ALLOCATION OF TOURNAMENTS

a)   To be determined each year at the Annual General Meeting of the Association.
b)  Tournaments cannot be applied for more than two years in advanceHosts to send information to areas by Mid November.


6.        PLAYING RULES      N.Z.S.A playing rules only shall be employed with the following additions:

a)  One and quarter hour time limit for all games 
For purposes of clarity - NZ Rules for governing the time keeping of the game are:

  • One person to monitor time (usually official scorer).
  • If a regualtion game is completed prior to time then the game ceases.
  • If a regulation game is incomplete at time, then the game will continue unless the team second at bat is ahead and is batting, otherwise complete the inning.
  • The new innings starts when the thrid out is made, (Rule 1 sec 57) not when the first pitch is thrown.
  • If the scores are tied when time is signaled, the innings is to be completed before going to tiebreaker if necessary.
  • No time stoppage is allowed for injury, allowance will be made for protests.

b)  Designated Runner rule
c) The Host Association will determine the format of the game; that is 'fastpitch' version or 'regular' 
d) When 12 teams or more, there must be a semi-final and final. 


7.        TEAM NUMBER

(a)    It is the decision of the Host Tournament association to allow (2) teams per association to enter in the event of        numbers becoming unmanageable.


8.        REGISTRATION

a)   A borrowed player must stay with one team, and be registered, for the duration of the tournament.
b)    All teams must insure their registration sheet is correct before tournament commences.


9.          SOCIAL

a)     To be compulsory and impromptu
b)    Saturday dinner , at $60 per person, to be paid no later than two weeks prior to tournament.  A minimum of 10 persons per team must be paid for by every team entered. 


10.        RAFFLE   

$100 per team compulsory.  To be drawn at the end of Tournament.


11.        DONATION FROM NZWEA         

That the host club be given $250.00 from NZWEA to assist with tournament expenses. The availability of said $250 to be decided at the Annual General meeting each year, for the following year.
