JMB rugby is for kids between the age of 4 years and 13 years old.  At each age and grade, players learn and develop specific skills in a team environment. At these grades, teams are mixed and we have a growing number of girl players in our district which is great to see.

WHEN AND WHERE RE DO THEY PLAY?

All Under 7, Under 9, Under 11 and U13 grades play in a local competition across 4 clubs on a Saturday morning.  Each club takes turns at running a Rally day where all teams will play on that day.  Occasionally there are Friday night games, to give the kids experience at playing under lights however there are a limited number of these throughout the season.

We continue to grow our player numbers at each of our JMB grade levels to ensure a strong local competition at the Under 7, Under 9, Under 11 and Under 13 grades.  Each club sets their own training days however a lot of the clubs choose a Thursday afternoon / evening to do so.

COACHES

All Coaches in the JMB Grades must complete a NZ Rugby Small Blacks course before being able to coach.  These courses are run by Northland Rugby and ensure that coaches are confident in the skills and rules required to coach rugby in a safe and encouraging manner.  This includes teaching correct tackling techniques and team building.
