Coach and Manager Selection

  • Coaches are selected by the coaching convenor working with the management committee.
  • Expressions of interest should be sent to the coaching convenor with details of experience.

Club Membership

  • Coaches and managers are automatically non playing members of our club and exempt from paying a non playing membership fee.
  • Complete an online registration form.

Code of Conduct

Please read the Coach and Manager Code of Conduct.

Training Venues

  • The coaching convenor will arrange a training time for each team at the Ellesmere Netball centre at the beginning of the season.
  • You can have extra training sessions at any time during the winter season but will need to check with the coaching convenor for availability of the courts.
  • The set of keys to the changing room & toilets , training equipment cupboard and lights is located in the lockbox on the side of the pavilion. This set of keys must be returned immediately after training for the use of others.
  • Any problems with the training facilities or equipment please report to the committee.

Promotion and Development of Players

  • When the Selwyn representative selectors are selecting players for trials or teams please speak to them and promote your players honestly. Ensure they know the players best playing positions and give the players court time so they can be seen in their best positions.
  • Let your players know about other coaching or playing opportunities such as representative teams, development camps and other coaching courses.

Club Awards

  • At the end of the season you select the Player of the Year and Most Improved Player recipients in your team.
  • You can nominate players and other club members for the club’s special awards.
  • You have voting rights for certain club awards so please attend the ‘trophy’ meeting and use them.

Prize Giving

  • Prize giving is held at the end of the season.
  • Coaches are expected to attend and give a short summary on their team’s achievements and read out who is receiving the team trophies.

Fundraising

  • In an effort to keep our membership fees as low as possible we ask all teams to participate in fundraising events in consultation with the fundraising committee.
  • The income we get from membership fees is not enough to cover the running costs of the club so we are dependent on fundraising. Money raised goes to any new purchases such as equipment and uniforms.

Photos

  • The club organises a team photo.
  • Coaches will be given a mounted team photo as a gift at the prize giving- so don’t buy one!!.

Professional Development

  • It is expected that coaches of players school year 1-8 attend the NNZ workshop provided by Selwyn for the appropriate age group
  • Coaches of year 9 players upwards are expected to engage with the NNZ Community Coaching workshops, these include both online and face to face components.
  • Keep updating your knowledge by attending courses, using the internet, sharing with other coaches.
  • Talk to the coaching convener if you would like assistance with either your coaching or with players.
